If Pete Gets a Dragon, I Want One Too
Fairy tales abound with mysterious creatures, but I think my favorite one is the dragon. I love how the dragon is portrayed as either a villain, like with Saint George, or as a hero like in Pete’s Dragon.
Not too long ago, Build-A-Bear had Toothless that you could buy and I dragged my daughter over to get one. Turns out that I wanted one more than she did, but since I didn’t want to share we got two. True story. (If you haven’t seen How to Train Your Dragon, you need to. Probably my favorite story involving good dragons. I told my dogs that they were slacking in the pet department.)
I have found dragons or the use of their image all throughout history and stories. Even today, you will find that dragons have their own following in books, my favorite in the Romance genre is by Katie MacAlister.
What about you? What’s your favorite dragon story?

The first dragon that comes to mind is from The Neverending Story. I watched that movie so many times when I was a kid.
Oh wow, how did I forget him? 🙂 Falcor right? Loved him, even if he was pink.
Yeah I think so. Was he pink? Huh, I don’t even remember it’s been so long. Speaking of dragons, have you seen Stephanie Ingram’s A to Z Challenge post today; she’s been doing short stories for each letter and today’s was about a dragon.

No, I haven’t; but I will check it out.
I have a toothless build-a-bear too!!
Dragons are one of my favorite mythical? Creatures. I can’t choose a favorite! Maybe Eragon..
Yay! Another Toothless fan! 🙂
I saw it when my stepdaughter was younger…I don’t remember much about it, though. Now I want to see it again!
Getting a chance to see a story/movie that you haven’t visited since you were a child, is awesome. You get to see it with two different sets of eyes. 🙂
Ooh! I love How to Train Your Dragon. That is one of the best movies. I’ve always said I wanted a pet dragon too (despite my recent post making the dragon out to be the bad guy – that’s actually unusual for me). They would make an awesome pet. Great post!
Thank you!
