Deep Breath…..Here comes the A to Z Blogging Challenge

Tomorrow, I’m going to begin a month-long blogging challenge called, “The A to Z Challenge.”  The basic idea is that you blog everyday in April except Sundays, and that gets your 26 posts, one for every letter of the alphabet.  *I can see your jaw dropping*  Not only do I have to come up with a post for each letter, I need to comment and participate on other blogs that are doing the same thing – a whole LOT of participation is needed for this event.

whoa

I know, it sounds crazy.  It’s going to be a TON of work, but I’m actually pretty excited about it.  It’s been suggested that you find a theme to help you focus on what you want to write for each letter and after some consideration, my desired theme is: Exploring Fairy Tales.

This does not mean that I’ll be posting about princesses everyday, even I would be a little bored with that.  (And I honestly don’t think there is one with a name that starts with “X”?)  I had to stretch the boundaries here a little and I’ve included a nursery rhyme or two, some American tall tales, and one Marvel character.

As I was preparing for this challenge, I got a little excited because some of the stories I selected I hadn’t read since I was a little girl and revisiting these stories kind of reminded me why I like to write.  Hopefully you will enjoy this journey as much as (am hoping) I will.  And who knows, at the end of the month maybe we will have let our “inner child” loose.  What was your favorite story when you were a kid?

  1. It’s my first time taking part in the A to Z blogging challenge, but even with the level of work it will require, I think I’ll enjoy it. From the handful of blogs I’ve had a look at this evening, there’s a great range of topics being covered.
I remember being very young, sitting with my mother as she read Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales, and did the most enthralling impression of the dog with eyes as big as dinner plates (from The Tinder Box).

    1. It’s my first time too! What is your theme?

I haven’t yet had a chance to look at everyone’s blog who are participating but I’m curious. 🙂 My mother used to read Disney stories when I was little – I never knew their history until I got older and started researching and that’s a little of why I like writing so much. You know?
